【80，Start a New Journey】Intelligent Battery Joint Venture Project Signed and Held, FAW JIEFANG Power Takes a New Step in Transformation!

On September 25th, the signing ceremony for the FAW JIEFANG AESC Intelligent Battery Manufacturing Base project took place. On the 26th, the project held a groundbreaking ceremony. This marks a significant step for FAW JIEFANG in advancing its "dual-carbon" strategic goals and building core capabilities in the commercial vehicle new energy sector, representing a crucial stride in FAW JIEFANG's transformation towards new energy.

Liu Yigong, a member of the China FAW Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, and Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Committee, attended the signing ceremony and held discussions. Zhou Wendong, Deputy Mayor of Wuxi, and key officials from Xishan District, Wuxi, also participated in the event.

Du Xiaogang congratulated China FAW Group on its 70th anniversary and Xichai's 80th anniversary and expressed gratitude for the company's long-term support for the development of Wuxi.

After briefly introducing the economic and social development of the city this year, Du Xiaogang pointed out that this project's establishment is a practical action to implement President Xi Jinping's important instructions to Jiangsu, which include "taking the lead in building the new development pattern" and "demonstrating new initiatives in strengthening chains, filling gaps, and extending chains."

He hoped that China FAW Group would continue to consider Wuxi as an important partner, leverage each other's unique advantages, and accelerate the project's construction and production to diversify the automotive layout in Wuxi. This effort aims to foster new productive forces in seizing new opportunities and expanding new cooperation, thus achieving high-quality development.

Wuxi will provide better services and guarantees for China FAW Group's development in Wuxi, promoting strong cooperation between the two sides and writing a new chapter in central-local cooperation and mutual benefit.

Liu Yigong stated that in recent years, China FAW Group has continuously increased its efforts in the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle fields, striving to seize the technological high ground and deeply integrate into the new energy vehicle industry chain.

He emphasized that with the establishment of this project, China FAW Group will work closely with Wuxi to accelerate the project's construction and production, strengthen technological innovation, and strive to make it a leading provider of commercial vehicle power battery solutions in China and a world-class one, making a positive contribution to the prosperity and development of the new energy vehicle industry in Wuxi and the entire country.

A day later, on September 26th, on the 80th anniversary of Xichai's establishment in FAW JIEFANG Powertrain Division, the FAW JIEFANG AESC Intelligent Battery Manufacturing Base project was officially groundbreaking. Leaders from the Wuxi municipal government, relevant departments, and representatives from China FAW, FAW JIEFANG, FAW JIEFANG Powertrain Division, AESC, and other departments, as well as employee representatives, totaling more than 170 people, attended the event.

Du Xiaogang, Secretary of the Wuxi Municipal Committee, Zhou Wendong, Deputy Mayor of Wuxi, Fang Li, Secretary of Xishan District Committee, Gu Wenhao, Xishan District Governor, Liu Yigong, a member of the China FAW Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, Wu Bilei, Deputy Secretary of the FAW JIEFANG Party Committee and General Manager, Ren Conglin, a member of the FAW JIEFANG Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Ji Yizhi, a member of the FAW JIEFANG Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, Li Sheng, a member of the FAW JIEFANG Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, Qian Hengrong, Assistant General Manager of FAW JIEFANG and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Powertrain Division, Ni Mouchun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Powertrain Division, and Zhao Weijun, President of AESC China, Yang Xiaowei, Vice President of AESC China, Cui Rude, Vice President of AESC China, and Sun Zhanfeng, Senior Advisor to Vision Technology Group, jointly participated in the soil-turning ceremony for the project.

In his speech, Liu Yigong expressed that as a core component of new energy vehicles, power batteries are a critical link in the new energy vehicle industry chain. Accelerating breakthroughs in key core technologies and providing high-quality product services is of great significance. In recent years, China FAW has continued to increase its efforts in the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle fields, resolutely winning the battle to promote the strong rise of new energy vehicles. Through the cooperative construction of this project, it is hoped that new and greater contributions will be made to building a strong automobile nation and manufacturing nation.

Fang Li stated in his speech that this project will inject strong momentum into the development of Xishan's new energy industry. The Xishan District Committee and District Government will always adhere to the principle of "putting projects first and valuing enterprises the most" and provide the best services and environment for project construction. They will work together with everyone to write a new chapter of win-win development.

Zhao Weijun mentioned in his speech that the cooperation between AESC and FAW JIEFANG will open a new chapter in the promotion of new energy commercial vehicles in Wuxi, the most dynamic and innovative land in the new energy industry. They will jointly promote the prosperity and development of the new energy vehicle industry.

Qian Hengrong introduced the FAW JIEFANG AESC Intelligent Battery Manufacturing Base project, stating that with the strong support of China FAW and the local government in Wuxi, AESC and FAW JIEFANG have joined forces to explore the new energy commercial vehicle industry.

The project is committed to developing and producing power batteries and energy storage-related products mainly for heavy-duty and light-duty trucks. It aims to create a globally leading commercial vehicle battery intelligent manufacturing base, a new energy commercial vehicle business model innovation center, and a new energy commercial vehicle exclusive product development incubation base. The products have high energy density, high safety, and long life, covering the product demands of light-duty and heavy-duty trucks.

The FAW JIEFANG AESC Intelligent Battery Manufacturing Base project is located on the north side of Jiaoshan Road and the east side of Lianfu Road in the Xishan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Wuxi.

The project plans to have an annual production capacity of 20 GWh and will be developed and constructed in two phases, with a total land area of approximately 450 mu. After production, it can achieve a 30% comprehensive energy efficiency improvement in three years, effectively helping FAW JIEFANG achieve transformation and development, build new energy key core competitive advantages, and provide strong support for Wuxi to build a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient new energy system and industrial ecosystem. According to the construction plan, the first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed and put into production in April 2025.
