Chinese Standard Transcends Western Norms | World's First Jiefang Intelligent Power Domain Product Shines on the Stage

On August 26, 2023, FAW Jiefang Powertrain Division unveiled the world's first Jiefang Intelligent Power Domain product and assessment standards. This event marks a significant milestone in China's autonomous powertrain field, signifying a new era of "intelligence" and a glimpse into the future of "domain". Attending the event were prominent figures including Huang Zhen, a National Committee member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Zhou Wendong, Deputy Mayor of Wuxi City; Hu Hanjie, Assistant General Manager of China FAW Group, Chairman and Party Secretary of FAW Jiefang; Xing Min, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association; Zhou Zichuan, Deputy Party Secretary and District Governor of Liangxi District; Zhang Guohua, Deputy Party Secretary and Labor Union Chairman of FAW Jiefang; Li Sheng, Assistant General Manager of FAW Jiefang, General Manager and Party Secretary of the Qingdao Complete Vehicle Division; Qian Hengrong, Assistant General Manager of FAW Jiefang, and Party Secretary of the Powertrain Division. These leaders and experts jointly unveiled the world's first intelligent power domain product. More than 100 people, including over 20 media outlets such as Xinhua Daily and China Automotive News, representatives from FAW Jiefang employees, as well as representatives from complete vehicle factories, dealerships, and users, witnessed this momentous occasion. The press conference was hosted by Ni Muchun, General Manager and Deputy Party Secretary of the Powertrain Division.

Zhang Guohua introduced during his speech: In July 2021, FAW Jiefang officially launched the "Jiefang Intelligent Power Domain" brand, creatively proposing the concept of "power domain". After more than two years of intensive exploration, it has pioneered the establishment of assessment standards that guide the development of the powertrain industry. The brand has successfully crafted an intelligent power domain product with world-class hardware performance and an industry-leading software system, reaffirming its determination and belief in the autonomous powertrain business's growth and strength.

This event showcased not only FAW Jiefang's profound historical heritage but also its capabilities in independent innovation.

◆Dr. Liu Jiangwei, Deputy Dean of the FAW Jiefang Commercial Vehicle Development Institute and Deputy General Manager of the Powertrain Division, delivered a speech.

Dr. Liu Jiangwei introduced the features and advantages of the GD300-3.0 Intelligent Power Domain. The Jiefang Intelligent Power Domain is an integrated architecture platform that encompasses the powertrain, control, software, and cloud-based big data platforms, featuring an integrated axle, star, and cloud collaborative architecture. The powertrain platform includes four major platforms: the power platform, controller platform, software platform, and cloud-based big data platform. The assembly platform consists of a 14L-level CA6DV1 diesel engine, CA12TA300A integrated AMT, and lightweight 440 axle. The integrated axle, for the first time, offers users a comprehensive efficiency exceeding 49% for the power domain product.

◆Qian Hengrong, Assistant General Manager of FAW Jiefang and Secretary of the Powertrain Division Party Committee, delivered a speech.

Qian Hengrong introduced the evaluation standards for the Intelligent Power Domain products. These new standards are referred to as the "826 Standards," consisting of 8 intelligent benchmarks, 2 manufacturing benchmarks, and 6 design benchmarks. Among these, the 8 intelligent standards—Intelligent Cooperative Control, Intelligent Perception, Intelligent Twin, Intelligent Diagnosis and Repair, Intelligent Low Carbon, Intelligent Power, Intelligent Environmental Protection, and Intelligent Maintenance—have reached a benchmark level. These standards are expected to save users 3%-5% on fuel, reduce unplanned stops by over 90%, and achieve a B10 lifespan of 2 million kilometers. The 2 manufacturing benchmarks—Lean Processing and Intelligent Assembly—have also reached benchmark levels, boosting key process capability indices by over 1.67 and leading the industry in processing accuracy. The comprehensive efficiency of the production line is projected to surpass 90%, and the level of intelligent manufacturing is set above 4.0.

The debut of the world's first Intelligent Power Domain product and its evaluation standards comes at a timely moment. It has garnered widespread attention from various sectors of society.

Xing Min commented that the introduction of the GD300-3.0 product holds a milestone significance for the development of China's internal combustion engine industry.

The introduction of the GD300-3.0 product outlines the fundamental path for the development of China's power domain industry. It seamlessly integrates intelligent technology into the integrated design architecture, constructs an industry-leading and globally competitive product through high-level synergy of software and hardware, establishes the benchmark for power domain industry development, and sets the stage for a new chapter in China's automotive industry development.

Huang Zhen stated that in the context of the country's continuous deepening of the "dual carbon" strategy, FAW Jiefang's remarkable release of the Intelligent Power Domain product presents a splendid response.

Zhou Wendong expressed that as the "eldest son of the national automobile," FAW Jiefang, with its rich heritage, technological accumulation, and system capabilities, has shouldered the responsibility of revitalizing China's automobile industry. It will effectively expand new value areas for the integration and development of China's commercial vehicles, providing significant opportunities for Wuxi's automotive and parts industries to reach higher levels of strength and prosperity.

Hu Hanjie stated that during the 70 years of FAW Jiefang's commitment to independent research and development, the company has always adhered to its initial goal of revitalizing China's automobile industry. Among these, the powertrain product, as the core of FAW Jiefang's complete vehicles, has transitioned from 1.0 to 2.0 and is now officially entering the 3.0 phase. This achievement is crucial for supporting FAW Jiefang's continuous leadership, driving the international leading position of the national automotive industry, promoting greater societal prosperity, and bears profound significance.

Hu Hanjie also mentioned that FAW Jiefang deeply studies industry development trends and core market pain points, integrating cloud computing, software, controllers, and powertrains to provide a diversified array of solutions under the "Jiefang Intelligent Power Domain." In the future, the company will focus on four major platforms: G, F, E, and H, to comprehensively meet commercial vehicle power demands. The G power domain focuses on green and low-carbon power with diesel, natural gas, hydrogen engines, AMT transmissions, drive axles, and domain controllers as the core components. The F power domain emphasizes zero-carbon power with fuel cell engines, integrated electric drive axles, and domain controllers at its core. The E power domain centers on pure electric and zero-carbon power with batteries, integrated electric drive axles, and domain controllers. The H power domain features hybrid and low-carbon power with green and low-carbon engines, power batteries, hybrid transmissions, drive axles, and domain controllers.

FAW Jiefang will also successively release natural gas, hydrogen, and other G power domain products. In 2024, the company will introduce the first products of the F, E, and H power domain platforms in an orderly manner, offering customers richer and more diversified choices. Meanwhile, FAW Jiefang will continue to optimize the Intelligent Power Domain evaluation standards, providing a more scientific guide for the independent development of China's power domain industry and offering stronger support for the high-quality development of the national automotive industry.
