Diesel engine factory In October 2017, FAW established FAWDE with Wuxi Diesel Engine Plant of FAW Jiefang Automobile Company as the main body, integrating DEUTZ (Dalian) Diesel Engine Co. The FAWDE is an important business unit in FAW's commercial vehicle business and is the R&D and production base for heavy, medium and light engines of Jiefang. The division is located in Wuxi, Changchun and Dalian, with its headquarters in Wuxi, covering a total area of 870,000m2 and employing over 5,400 people. Its main products are diesel engines, gas engines, moving parts and remanufactured products and common rail systems. After its establishment, it has formed the R&D layout of "two cities and three locations" in Wuxi and Changchun, and established "five mechanisms for technological innovation" and a large R&D system integrating procurement, marketing, quality, cost and process. The division now has complete independent R&D capability for engines and has won the "First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress".
