On December 23, 2009, the first domestic FAWDE CA6DM (11-liter) engine production line with independent intellectual property rights and international advanced level was completed at FAW Jiefang Xichai Branch.

The CA6DM engine production line, with an annual production capacity of 15,000 units, is a well-equipped, technologically advanced, domestic first-class, international-level modern production line. Its completion not only marks a major breakthrough in FAWDE's manufacturing equipment and technology to international level, heavy-duty diesel engine production means and production capacity, but also fully demonstrates the profound strength of China FAWDE's independent development.

The CA6DM engine is tailor-made by FAWDE of China FAW Group Corporation according to the market demand and is the core power of the Jiefang heavy-duty truck, which is a heavy-duty diesel engine with great achievements of China's independent technology. The development of this model, using the world's most advanced design concepts, design methods and modern design processes throughout the management, from preliminary planning and design to trial production, completely relying on FAWDE's own R & D team and FAW Technical Centre to complete, with three invention patents and five utility model patents, demonstrating the level of independent R & D and independent innovation in China, so that Jiefang in heavy-duty trucks has a unique core competitive advantage.

FAWDE's independently developed engines are suitable for heavy trucks and large luxury buses with their better fuel economy, high torque at low speed, lower vibration and noise, and emissions meeting the Euro III-V standard. The CA6DM engine has also become the driving force of the Jiefang J6, the 10 millionth vehicle to roll off the production line in China in 2009. In the year since the product was launched, it has been generally welcomed by customers in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Jilin, Liaoning and other places, and letters of thanks have come pouring in, praising the CA6DM engine as a national brand, high-end power and a money-making machine for customers.

FAWDE 500hp National V engine

FAWDE, as a leading manufacturer of domestic auto engines, the CA6DN1-50E5 engine jointly designed by FAW Technical Center and Xichai was successfully completed the trial production and loading in Xichai on September 15, laying a solid foundation for FAWDE to further seize the high-end power market.

The CA6DN1-50E5 engine, which is the top-end power of Jiefang J6 heavy truck, has a power of up to 500 horsepower, meets the National V emission standard and adopts SCR technology route and BOSCH new generation electric common rail system. It is characterised by the excellent economy, long life and high reliability of the FAWDE.

The new engine will be firstly configured with Jiefang J6 Rich Golden Orange cab for exhibition, to accurately convey FAWDE's brand image of high-end engine to users and provide top powertrain for high-end users, making it an important product of FAWDE in the National V platform.

Xichai 420hp natural gas engine

On September 26, 2010, in FAWDE's production test room, with factory director Qian Henrong starting the button, the 420hp natural gas engine (CA6SN1-42E4N2) ran strongly, with normal data, smooth operation and successful ignition.

China advocates the development of new energy industry for automobile enterprises from the strategy of energy saving and emission reduction and transformation of energy structure. FAWDE actively follows up, and through years of dedicated research and development, is the first in the same industry in China to develop a series of natural gas engines such as F, L1 and L2, covering 170hp to 310hp. After being put on the market, they were well received by bus and passenger transport companies. Many customers have chosen FAWDE products again after experiencing the environmental efficiency and strong power brought by the natural gas engines from Xichiba.

In order to establish FAW's dominant position in the natural gas commercial vehicle market, in September 2009, FAWDE, together with FAW Technical Centre, started the development and production of the CA6SN1-42E4N2, the most powerful natural gas engine in China. The CA6SN1-42E4N has a maximum power of 420 hp and is also available with the J5P and J6P Jiefang Heavy Duty Trucks for use in vast areas with rich natural gas reserves, carrying coal and hauling mines with a continuous driving range of 1000 km.
